The complete honest story - from 120kg to 90kg
After struggling with my weight for years and facing serious health warnings from my doctor, I decided to try Mounjaro for weight loss. This is my complete, honest account of losing 38kg over 18 months, including the real costs, side effects, and challenges of getting Mounjaro privately in the UK. If you're considering this medication, here's everything I wish I'd known before starting.
Weight: 120kg
My doctor wanted me to start statins and was warning me about diabetes. I knew I had to do something - this was my breaking point.
I'd read about the new weight loss medications and waited, hoping I could get one on prescription through the NHS. But here in the UK it was (and still is) very hard to get a GP to prescribe it.
I eventually decided to get Mounjaro from a private online pharmacy - Pharmacy Planet - as they had quite good prices and often gave 10-15% discount codes. I completed my online consultation and started my journey.
I had to take a break from Mounjaro for a while as I just couldn't afford it - especially over Christmas. This was really frustrating but cost is a huge factor for me.
In March this year I found this deal on Numan getting me £100 off my 1st order, so jumped back on the train. After a thorough online consultation, I just had to prove I had been on Mounjaro and what dose, and carried on from there.
Weight: 92.6kg - Total loss: nearly 30kg!
I'm now on a low(ish) carb diet and my carb cravings have gone! It's wonderful being able to walk around a supermarket without wanting to eat everything!
Weight: 88.6kg
Cravings have crept in a bit this month and weight not changed - not too worried though (See blog post).
Weight: 84.7kg
My weight seems to have plateaud, though there is still a ver gradual downward trend. Considering options after price-hikes.
Weight: 82.2kg
Cravings have crept in a bit again this month and weight has dropped a bit - moving to 12.5mg for the last stretch. No longer with Numan. (See latest blog post).

These photos represent my personal journey. Individual results may vary. Always consult with healthcare professionals before starting any weight loss medication.
My daily routine has completely changed since starting Mounjaro:
The biggest change? I can actually control my eating now. Before, I felt like food controlled me. The intermittent fasting happened almost naturally - I just wasn't hungry in the mornings anymore.
The type of meals I enjoy now - lower carb and more satisfying!
The Problem: Had to take breaks because I couldn't afford continuous treatment.
My Solution: Always hunt for deals, discount codes, and referral offers. That's why I'm sharing mine!
Tip: Budget for it monthly if possible, and don't be afraid to shop around between pharmacies.
The Problem: Moving from Pharmacy Planet to Numan required proving my treatment history.
My Solution: Always take clear photos of your prescription boxes showing the dose and dates.
Tip: Keep good records - new providers need this, especially if your BMI has improved.
What Worked: Numan were quite good at handling my transition. They advised me to restart on 7.5mg dose even though I'd taken it before.
Why It Helped: Professional approach, easy to contact, thorough consultation process.
Tip: Be completely honest about your history - they're there to help, not judge.
What Changed: Stopped seeing it as a quick fix and started viewing it as a tool for long-term change.
Why It Worked: Combined the medication with gradual lifestyle changes rather than expecting magic.
Tip: Use the appetite suppression to build better habits - they'll stick even if you take breaks.
Next Update: November 2025
I'll be sharing monthly updates about my ongoing journey, including:
I'm always on the lookout for other deals as cost is a huge factor for me, and I'll share my experience of those here as well.
